The Netherlands

The land of water and wind

The Netherlands, the low country with high atmosphere

The Netherlands is flat, but far from boring. It is a country of lines — of dikes, canals and the ever present horizon. It is a country where light and air challenge each other, and mist says as much as sun.
I grew up here, learned to look, learned to stand still. This is the country I know. And yet I keep discovering, from moorland to coast, from morning mist to evening glow.

In this gallery, I invite you to see The Netherlands through my lens!

Windmills

The windmill in the Dutch landscape is more than heritage. It is an anchor in a world of change.
Water moves, light shifts, but there it stands — still, powerful.
A typical dutch scene and actually in every corner of the country you can find them!

The woodlands

Woodlands in the Netherlands may seem modest — not vast, not wild — but they are quiet resilience.
Mist clings to the moss, branches filter soft light, paths lead nowhere in particular. And sometimes you can see someone on their bike, cycling in between the gentle green giants.

Flowers

Dutch flowers set the stage for the coloured fields in The Netherlands.
And although those fields blush with tulips, hyacinths, and crocuses, they are actually a nice by-product! It is all about the bulbs! However, we love that by-product and they make the everyday feel extraordinary, even for us!

The landscape

The Dutch landscape is drawn in lines — long, low, and deliberate. Dikes, canals, fields and skies stretch out in quiet harmony. In the morning, the land doesn’t shout; it whispers in the morning mist… with here and there a cow, a train or a person.
